The release of the first single Uncharted Territory prompted British press to feature Michele on the front page of Subba-Cultcha London who had this to say: “With Michele Ari it’s her seamless changes of direction, the genuine desire for making music she was born to. That's the moments that remind me how accomplished she really is...Intimate, confessional and bittersweet. Maybe music like hers never existed until right now - but regardless, here it is, and it sounds like something new to me."

Wounded Man 03:34
That's the look of a wounded man If I ever saw a wounded man there down on the ground Is not where I found you You cast shadows on your walls You built up your own hallowed halls Watch your step Careful you might fall oh whao-etc... In that moment you were humbled On your knees you were humbled In your eyes I solved all the puzzles I only keep my best poetry Accentuate the positive of you and me Though there's black in your eyes and your dreams I bet no one's ever told you no Now you're backed in a corner It hurts yeah it shows Now I know what no one else knows In that moment you were humbled On your knees you were humbled In your eyes I solved all the puzzles In that moment you were humbled On your knees you were humbled In your eyes I solved all the puzzles

Tell me do you gamble in the dark I'll give you flashing lights that radiate and spark. Ever torn apart the life you live for something beautiful, oh what you wouldn't give to just break away, it's a brand new day Won't you come out and play Come on don't ignore me it's uncharted territory Go on explore me it's uncharted territory Can you stand to see the break of day I'll be your grand parade I'll be your holiday There's no mountain I'm afraid to climb after just one step you won't regret the time So let's break away, it's a brand new day Won't you come out and play? Come on don't ignore me it's uncharted territory Go on explore me it's uncharted territory What are waiting for? Don't you know what's in store? Don't you want so much more? Let me show you to the world outside the stars are shining bright and there's no need to hide. I've waited long enough you see let me swim up your stream I like to live not dream Come on don't ignore me it's uncharted territory Go on explore me it's uncharted territory

Little Wars 03:09
I reach for this world with an open heart my intentions roll from my sleeves Jousting and fighting just to be here to realize the things I believe The fights and the breakdowns the crashes and shake downs these little wars, these little wars I reach for this world with a burning desire an unending yearn for the stars In my head there are happy endings so why does the Earth feel like Mars? The fights and the breakdowns the crashes and shake downs these little wars, these little wars My heart burns like a campfire I bask in the flame and delight That nothing could keep us from trying to face all these wars with a fight La, la, la The wars that they fight in the night and the desert the wars that go on in their heads The masters and slaves all the games that they play What's worth winning when everyone's dead? The fights and the breakdowns the crashes and shake downs these little wars, these little wars The debts and the men who collect them Mafia disguised as your friends threats to your good reputation to keep you from spending again The dirty call centers the Merchants of Venom these little wars My heart burns like a campfire I bask in the flame and delight That nothing could keep us from trying to face all these wars with a fight The Nazis still guarding and wrapped in cheap sweaters their minds stuck in "God knows when?" They'll let in the killers and read your love letters then hold you for hours on end They'll smash you to pieces on Sundays praise Jesus on Mondays they'll do it again The fights and the breakdowns the crashes and shake downs (these little wars, these little wars) The dirty call centers the Merchants of Venom (these little wars, these little wars) The fights and the breakdowns the crashes and shakedowns these little wars, these little wars The lover who left you for criminal reasons no lawyer could ever defend The groupie who poisons the souls of the future It's not time on wars we can spend

What does that mean is that any way to start? Calling me a liar why are you trying to break my heart? Once in the meadow and twice in the car we told each other we'd probably go far together No matter or whether Here I sit at the bottom of a roadside ditch with a fork through my soul How did I lose control like this? With one in the future and one in the past One half full one half empty glass “whatever” They don't go together I could live without this I could soar without chains For someone to kiss it's just not worth the pain I'm a sensitive girl and I don't know why I could live without this I've just got to try Invisible hands reaching for someone you don't know Dry and barren lands where the flowers used to grow It's no laughing matter You've cried now for days It was my favorite song But now I no longer play it. And so I'm saying... I could live without this I could soar without chains For someone to kiss it's just not worth the pain I'm a sensitive girl and I don't care why I could live without this I've just got to try I'm a sensitive girl and I don't care why I could live without this I've just got to try What does that mean is that any way to start?

Real 03:47
I don't need eyes to see you I don't need air to breathe you My fingers don't need skin to touch you Don't have to wet my lips to taste you If it's real then it's real This is the moment you can steal I don't need words to tell you Don't have to take out ads to sell you My hips don't need to sway to tempt you Butterflies line up to collect you If it's real then it's real This is the moment you can steal Let it flow let it feel And I'll be the fire you can burn

about

"Intimate, confessional and bittersweet. Maybe music like hers never existed until right now - but regardless, here it is, and it sounds like something new to me. " Alan Baillie, Subba-Cultcha, London

Written in Nashville, Tennesse in the back of a strip mall where Michele had been living (in a gutted out medical office complete with full-body X-Ray machine) Uncharted Territory ,despite the starkness of her environment, was born from the soul. The EP is a culmination of her experiences and observations in Music City USA from love to sex to the madness and beauty of mankind, from hope and despair and to all points in between. These five songs pushed Michele into new territories for herself from the writing to the recording and to the release which took place exactly one week after Michele had been taken in an apartment scheme that left her homeless in NYC, her new home. It was risky to leave during production but her part had been done, she could continue to produce from afar and she had her sights set back on live shows which she felt would be better served elsewhere. Having toured to NYC with great success it was a logical move... or so she thought.

The single Uncharted Territory was released from a virtual crack house where Michele immediately took refuge since she could not afford to sleep in the rented car she used to move for more days than she already had done so. Life turned in instant from the hopeful to the unimaginable. She was now in the far reaches of the seedy underbelly of Brooklyn quite a distance from the East Village of the 70's and 80's Michele longed to find. With some exception (and she met those people) the apparency was there on the surface but something was sorely lacking. Even in contrast to the first time she lived there NY had become a place for the 1 percent who were handed the glories of the city by the same hands that once fed but now could not eat.

In possession of a strong belief in the songs themselves the single was indeed released from this Bedlam while atop an air mattress in winter , with no heat and a nasty respiratory infection. Upon release the song took off immediately exciting her loyal fans while attracting brand new ones. She found herself in front page features in prominent music magazines and then stellar reviews were published when the full EP was released from Portland, OR. where Michele arrived by train in an effort to lighten an environemental load formidable enough to make most quit. As a point of interest, some of the reviewers who have been talking about Michele's music since her debut were now buying up her music in an added show of support. That is a rare if unheard of testament.

Originally the Uncharted Territory EP was to feature an early member of famed punk band The Damned Roman Jugg but the two decided to hold off for another project. Currently (2013) they are writing together over the distance between Portland and England.

Uncharted Territory is some of Michele's best work to date. Her partnership with Nashville songwriter and recording artist Jon Stathum combined two talents into a record that scratches the surface, finds where we all hide and makes it OK to come on out. Her song Little Wars the heart burns like campfires and we bask in the flame and delight that nothing could keep us from trying to face all these wars with a fight and the other four original tracks accomplish just that.
